KECSKEMÉT FOLK DANCE ENSAMBLE

The Kecskemét Folk Dance Ensamble was established in 1976, it celebrated its 30th birthday last year. Its maintainer is the Erdei Ferenc Cultural Center and Art School.
Since its establishment numerous children-generations have became skilled, dance-loving adults who can admit the different kind of arts and a have a wide knowledge of the Hungarian rich cultural heritage. In its 30 years the dance troupe increased the repuation of Kecskemét with a lot of performances and premieres, promoted the well-known traditions of the town and gave pleasure for its inhabitants of any kind of age.
The Ensamble presents the dances of the nations living in the Carpathian Basin. Their aim is to gather, reconstruct and perform the dances of Kecskemét and its wider environment and to search for their traditional costumes as well. Due to the initiative of the dance troupe the reconstruction of a peasant costume from both sex has been prepared.
The Ensamble is a constant participant of the social, economical and cultural festivals in Kecskemét and its surroundings, of the Kecskemét Spring Festival, „Hírös Hét” (Famous Week) Festival and regularly permorms and organizes nationwide folk dance festivals and contests. The Dance Ensamble made guest appearance and transmitted the traditional dances in numeorus foreign countries.
The young dancers (children and youth) – last year 280 persons in 14 classes - have been acquiring the basic of folk dance since 1999 in the art school. In 2005 the recruitment groups obtained Special High Level Award on the National School Competition.

The Ensamble have numerous professional and social awards.

On the gala in 2006 the Educational and Cultural Minister granted them ministerial prais appreciating the work of the ensamble.
