SISTERS OSOIANU Ethno Folk Group
Elena, Iulia, Valentina, Romela and Maria Osoianu were born in Horesti village, Falesti district which is in the Northern part of Moldova. All of them have graduated from Chisinau State University of Arts.
The ethno folk group “Sisters Osoianu” has asserted itself as an authentic institution of taking over the task of propagation the beautiful and rich traditions, rituals and custom of the Moldovan people, assuming the noble task of being the representative of the Moldovan national art and culture.
Osoianu sisters were the singers on basis of whom the ethno folk group “Talancutsa” has been founded - the honoured ensemble of Moldova, leaded by Andrey Tamazlîcaru – the wellknown composer and great specialist in folklore.
Sisters Osoianu possess very expressive, colorful and fine voices. They have the task of studying and working on group song styles. They started working on small song forms: lullaby, nurseling, lyrical melodies and now they are working on bigger folk song forms, such as ritual, religious, epic, ballades, etc.
Sisters Osoianu have also a rich dancing song repertoire. They are permanently go in artistic expeditions in Moldovan villages for collecting and recording folk songs and melodies from local old folk keepers.
Sisters Osoianu are accompanied by professional musicians, playing at the national traditional folk instruments such as: Kaval (end-blown flute), Pan-Pipe, Cimpoi, Kobza, Pipe, Okarina, etc.
The wonderful sisters Osoianu are oftentimes invited to Radio and TV musical programs, concerts and have participated in many National and International Folk Music Festivals in more than 15 countries around the world.
