The Artvin is a province located in the north of Turkey, in the Black Sea Region. The dances of Artvin, has both the general characteristics of Turkish folkdances and also the specific characteristics of region. This region has been affected from very different cultures because of it’s location, where is a culturally twilight area. We can see the effects of nature and natural conditions and also the effects of the Turkish independence war.
The dances or this region are generally performed in public square and also in (kapalı alan) in the days of weddings, religious or national festivals, ext.
When we look at the dancers, we can see that the dances can be performed by only men or women and also both men and women together. The instructions during the dance are given together by men and women.
